Will 2017 Be Your Year?

Image result for motivational quote about goals

I am someone who LOVES to make New Years Resolutions. I love to write them down and really think about what I want to accomplish in the new year. Think about it, you have a completely blank slate.

Forget about the past and just think about what you want to become in this new chapter of your life. Of course my goals always revolve around money, family time, personal development and WEIGHT! I keep my resolution lists and looking back I always had that dreaded number on the scale I wanted to get back to and I just knew it would happen that year. Well I can tell you that this past year I hit that number. I have teetered a bit away from it recently but I know now I will hit it again. You know why, I realized how to take care of ME. Not to do a fad diet, take a magic pill, starve myself and only eat meat. I learned that I needed to get healthy from the inside out and only when that happened would I lose the weight and be able to keep it off for good. I have not deprived myself, have not given up favorite foods and am not a slave to the gym. I am living my life, just a healthier and realistic version of it. I learned that if I splurge on a big meal at Outback that the next day I will take a few more steps and make really good food choices.

As I prepare to make my goals for 2017 I will still have a goal associated with weight on that list. But this year it will not be a number on paper that will depress me when I do not achieve it. It will be this......"continue on my health journey". This means to me that I will continue with what I am doing, keep getting healthy. If the scale goes down or I lose another pant size hooray! But that will not determine if I was successful or not.

If you are ready to make 2017 YOUR year to be the healthiest shoot me a quick comment or email. Let me be your cheerleader along the way!

Those Evil Cravings

Cravings are a problem that can completely destroy your hard work if you do not approach them the right way. I am someone who is 95% disciplined during the week doing my meal prep, staying on track with healthy snacks, exercising & drinking my water. But then the weekend comes and I completely un-do all of the hard work I put in all week. For years I have searched for a solution to this so I decided to share my findings with you guys. Have no fear, you too can be consistent with your healthy living.

Just follow my 3 Step System

Step #1: Clear Out the Junk

Get rid of all the junk food that you currently have in your home, office and car. Go through with a big garbage bag and toss anything that remotely resembles junk food. Remember, junk food is tasty for a few minutes but is full of empty calories!

Step #2: Stock Up on Healthy Snacks

Step two is where you go and stock up on foods that give your body fuel and keep your energy level high to get you through the day.  Nuts, seeds, fruit, veggies, hard boiled eggs, and salads are great items to have on hand. You’ll eat less of these healthy snacks, since these aren’t empty calories, but they are full of nutrients so you stay full longer.

Step #3: HALT!

“Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired?” If you’re hungry then reach for one of the healthy snacks from step two. If you’re angry, then figure out why and find a resolution to it. If you are lonely, then reach out to a friend, instead of reaching for junk food. And if you are tired then make the time to grab a nap or get to bed early to catch up on sleep.

So there it is. I am no expert but this is just what I have found to work as I have been on my adventure to the healthiest version of me. Step #3 is the absolute most important step for most people. Once you realize just 'why' you are eating poorly and not giving your body the nutrition it needs is when you will finally be able to make that change. Don't give up on yourself. We are all a work in progress!

Hello, It's Me!

Through my weight loss journey I have learned that pictures are so important. On days when you are feeling down you can look back and see how far you have come. The picture on the left was me November 2015. I remember thinking I was just going to accept that I would be 'mom' size and could just wear elastic pants from now on. Well here I am on the right, 52 pounds lighter! Loving life, a colorful wardrobe & zippers 😊

I would absolutely be honored to help you on your journey. Shoot me a message or comment below and we can work on a program that best suits your needs!

Crockpot Tacos - So Easy!

Here is an easy recipe for you to make today. It's Monday so start the week off with a healthy meal and have leftovers to last you through the week. This is what you will need.

  • Salsa
  • Chicken (I use frozen tenders)
  • Taco Seasoning (Love my Taco Tuesday from Flavor God)
  • Soft or Hard Taco Shells
  • Cheese
  • Lettuce, Sour Cream, Taco Sauce and anything else you like with tacos

Throw the chicken in the Crockpot. Shake on some seasoning and pour salsa over chicken. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours. When finished take a fork and shred the chicken. Top it with anything you like and enjoy!

**Leftover ideas are in a salad, nachos for the kids, wrapped in lowfat flatbread or just by itself with a veggie. Enjoy!**
